Student Matinees

Many Olney "mainstage" productions include a 10:15 am performance in their schedule to accomodate school groups.  We also offer several student matinee performances for our Family Entertainment Series (see times below).

Is He Dead?

Jean-Francois Millet is a brilliant but unrecognized artist who can't sell a painting to save his life. With the help of his madcap bohemian friends, Jean decides to stage his own demise to revive sales. However, in order to keep an eye on his success, he re-emerges as his imaginary twin sister. Authored by Mark Twain in 1898, this play was recently discovered by Shelley Fisher Fishkin and updated by David Ives. Join Olney for a farce that will have you laughing loud enough to wake the dead.

Welcome to the ruthless world of the frigid Yukon during the Klondike Gold Rush. This frozen, unforgiving land is inhabited by two types of beings: dogs and their masters. While they have come for fame and glory, dogs and humans must learn to endure not only the wilderness, but the loneliness too. Full of original songs, this riveting show pits man vs. animal in instinct, survival, loyalty, and humanity.

Stellaluna

Produced by The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia

Stellaluna has her world literally turned upside down, when she is adopted by a loving family of birds. The only problem is...she's a bat. In this humorous and touching story about being who you are, see how this adorable baby fruit bat discovers the essence of friendship.

Goodnight Moon

Goodnight Moon is a celebration of familiar nighttime rituals. The tale features soothing rhythm of bunner banter and dream-like imagery that never fail to infuse youngsters with a reassuring sense of security.

But when a heated debate over soccer and global warming goes sour, Avery questions if he has the guts to be an Enviro-Man or if he is merely, as his sister calls him, a Tree Boy.
